Zizah Okeugo

Monijara

Zizah Okeugo is a young boy from Nigeria, Africa. He has been diagnosed with Autism and he is considered a non verbal autistic child. Being limited in speech is challenging for him and for his family until they discovered that he has a special bond with colors and shapes. Art and music  have become his voice.

His art career started at a young age when he began sketching and coloring with crayons without any guidance of any adult or teacher. His first drawing was a picture of the angry birds from a t-shirt he wore to school at 3 years old. Shortly after this, his parents discovered that Zizah had an uncanny ability to paint things and shapes that he had seen only once in his life. His ability to recall images from memory with high precision replicating them on paper and also playing music by ear has earned him the moniker "eideticboy."

Much of Zizah’s inspiration comes from the visual World around him and when he's not sketching or painting, he loves to swim and experience the world through the lenses of his camera.

His first solo exhibition "eidetic impressions" opened on April 2nd 2021 at Terra Kulture Gallery, The event's goal was to raise awareness during the world autism Awareness month. Since then he has participated in a few exhibitions one of which is the 2021 PARAART TOKYO International Exhibition where he emerged winner in the young category.

His parents want to bring awareness about Autism through his art, especially in Africa where the resources, understanding and knowledge are limited. His family believes that sharing his art helps to create awareness, understanding and acceptance of autism. Society also gets to see what the differently abled can achieve given the opportunity.

Zizah's Artwork are available as Prints with different options of papers, sizes and framing options. Zizah is participating in our Art with a Purpose Mission and 25% of his proceeds go to Project he is being part of.
